SUPERVISOR:                   Health Services Manager

STATUS:                            *Seasonal/Full Time funded until 2023                                  Non-exempt

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist Health Services Manager with department responsibilities.
  2. Receive health referrals, review for completeness, develop and maintain referral files, close files when complete. Determine if child has up-to-date immunizations, Review 45 and 90 day reports, and assist Health and Nutrition Specialist with obtaining necessary 45 and 90-day health requirements.
  3. Fill in for Health and Nutrition Specialist in his/her absence.
  4. Ensure proper maintenance of health supplies, organizing and ordering.
  5. Setup and attend health screenings, assist when and where necessary, monitor documentation, collect and tally in-kind sheets, secure equipment.
  6. Perform equipment check out and maintenance.
  7. Create reports and review data in a timely manner.
  8. Attend assigned meetings and trainings.
  9. Communicate information on Special Meal Accommodations to teaching and other staff.
  10. Other duties as assigned to ensure program compliance with guidelines and regulations established by the funding source in the preparation and completion of PIR, Head Start Monitoring and any other assessment or report established by the funding source.
  11. Support the achievement of in-kind goals as established in the HSPPS and the OWCAP development system procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • General knowledge of child development,
  • Knowledge of child abuse/neglect laws,
  • Office procedures and equipment usage,
  • Family services, public health, record keeping, family and community partnerships
  • Strong skills working with computers, printer/copier, fax system
  • Strong skills with Excel/Microsoft Word, and other computer database platforms used at OWCAP

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Work experience in health, and nutrition or a related field for a minimum of one year.
  • Education may be substituted in the place of experience. 

POST-HIRE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Medical certification that employee can perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations within two weeks of hire.
  2. Two-step TB test within 30 days of hire.
  3. Hepatitis B vaccine series within two weeks of hire with verification of completion of the series within six months of hire.
  4. Criminal background check upon hire and every five (5) years thereafter (per policy update 2/15/2017).
  5. Drug/Alcohol testing upon hire and when deemed necessary to comply with OWCAP Drug Free Workplace Policy.
  6. Continuous CPR and First Aid certifications and Current Food Handler’s Permit
  7. Valid Utah driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance when claiming mileage.
