The Ogden-Weber Community Action Partnership welcomes volunteer help. Volunteers play many roles in our Agency and programs; from helping in the classrooms to clerical and reception work to groundswork and maintenance.

 

PURPOSE OF THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

  1. To provide additional staff support in all areas of the OWCAP programs, thus increasing effectiveness of staff.

  2. To give interested local citizens, including parents of Head Start children, an opportunity to participate in the program.

  3. To establish a systematic method of mobilizing community resources for the expansion and improvement of all parts of the program.

  4. To build better understanding for the overall war on poverty and to stimulate widespread citizen support for improved services in education, health, disabilities, and welfare for children and their families.

WHO CAN BE AN OWCAP VOLUNTEER?

OWCAP is a non-profit agency that strives to help individuals help themselves. Anyone over the age of 14 can volunteer. but due to the nature of OWCAP's mission all volunteers are required to fully disclose their criminal history.

Conviction for the following crimes may exclude a person from volunteering at OWCAP:

  • Any felony,
  • Misdemeanors involving manufacturing, distributing, or possessing with intent to manufacture or distribute a controlled substance.
  • Misdemeanors involving the unlawful taking, destruction, sale and/or receipt of property, be it personal or public.

Conviction of any of the following crimes will exclude a person from volunteering at OWCAP:
  • Child Abuse or Neglect; Domestic Violence; Assault;
  • Bestiality; Lewdness; or Lewdness Involving a Child;
  • Pornographic and harmful materials and performances;
  • Prostitution; and/or
  • Contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
